The GMF extended steering committee met in Loviisa, Finland from 15 to 17 April, to discuss the future of the association. GMF members from Belgium, Finland, France, Hungary, Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK discussed about the strengths and weaknesses of GMF as well as the opportunities and challenges. The discussion will be summarised into a vision 2030 and an annual plan of work.
The members had the opportunity to visit the nuclear power plant of Loviisa, the low and intermediate level waste repository and the Loviisa showroom. We discussed with Fortum representatives about the nuclear power plant lifetime extension, the impact on the region and the plans for new nuclear in Finland.
Next GMF meeting is foreseen in Saint Vulbas on 22-24 May in collaboration with ARCICEN.
