West-Mecsek Social Association for Control and Information (NYMTIT) organised its jubilee XX open day (called Compass Day) on 9th September 2023 in Boda.
The event was opened by Mr. Győző Kovács, head of NYMTIT, mayor of Boda. Afterwards dr. Peter Ormai chief officer for international relations at Public Utility for Radioactive Waste Management LLC (PURAM) gave a detailed overview of the international situation of the high level radioactive for final disposal. Dr. Máté Gerzson Szalay, advisor of the Energy Ministry talked about the energy strategy of Hungary in the context of the usage of nuclear power.
Mr. Gerben Dijksterhuis, vice-president of GMF, mayor of Borsele NL, was invited as a guest speaker and he introduced the public initiation of the social dialogue process in connection with the possibility of a new build nuclear power plant in their region.
Dr. Ferenc Kereki CEO of PURAM thanked the cooperation of NYMTIT and expressed that it will continue in future as well.
At the end of the Forum the participants watched a short film about the history of NYMTIT association.
Beside the professional forum different side events were organised such as a contest of physics and chemistry for primary school students and fishing competition for the citizens of NYMTIT settlements.
