“Sharing Experience of Communities Hosting Nuclear Facilities” was one of the side events organised during the 68th IAEA General Conference and explored what it means to be a local stakeholder and how communities can work together with other stakeholders, including governments and nuclear industry, to enable the success of nuclear projects. GMF Vice-president Mr Csaba Dohoczki participated representing the perspective of municipalities hosting nuclear facilities in Europe. The event was opened by the IAEA Director General Mr Rafael Mariano Grossi. The panellists included representatives from local communities and national governments from Argentina, Canada, Japan and the USA.
IAEA Director General Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi made clear that municipalities have a key role in the successful use of nuclear energy. Communities should exchange experience on a global level regarding nuclear energy.
