GMF members from 10 different countries visited Kalná nad Hronom in Slovakia for the first time ever on 28 June 2023. The director of the Mochovce nuclear power plant from Slovenské Elektrárne and the team leader of disposal facilities operation from JAVYS presented the current situation of nuclear energy in Slovakia and the national repository of radioactive waste respectively. In addition, the mayor of Borsele in the Netherlands talked about the importance of involving citizens in the decision-amking related to the national project of constructing 2 new nuclear units.
GMF members had the opportunity to visit the 4 units of the Mochovce nuclear power plant (unit 4 under construction) as well as the national repository for low and intermediate leve waste. Participants could also visit the interactive exhibits at Energoland.
